I believe no one should have to pay to be autistic.
That principle has guided my work from the beginning, ensuring that every article, podcast episode, and resource I create remains freely accessible to anyone who needs it. It's not just a nice idea—it's essential for our community.
The Impact of Your Support
Just in February 2025 alone, I talked directly with:
17 newly diagnosed autistic adults who shared that these resources helped them understand themselves for the first time
11 families raising neurodivergent kids who found practical strategies to support their children
12 therapists and caregivers who improved their support approaches based on authentic autistic perspectives
7 researchers developing better understanding of lived neurodivergent experiences
3 teachers creating more inclusive classroom environments
Hundreds reach out directly for help every year.
THEN there are the tens of thousands who read or listen. Silently. Each of these connections represents someone who accessed these resources without financial barriers… as it should be.
The Current Challenge
In my 70s, I survive on government assistance. And I'm grateful.
But with inflation and recent cuts to my government housing, medical, and food subsidies, I'm facing a financial crisis that threatens this work.
I need to raise $150 in the next 7 days to cover Internet service and other modest but critical expenses that allow me to continue creating content.
Thank you to the 9 Founding Member paid subscribers who already make this possible. Your support means everything.
If just 15 more people contributed $10 each (or any combination that works), we'd reach our goal.
Ways to Help
Make a one-time contribution through this 7-day Ko-Fi fundraiser:
Become a paid subscriber, to support access to all content for free. For those who truly need it.
Share this newsletter with others who might value this work
This fundraiser runs until 3/13. I'll post daily updates on our progress toward the $150 goal.
Why This Matters
Your support today means that tomorrow... someone just discovering they're autistic? They won't face financial barriers to understanding themselves. That's what drives me... gets me up every morning… in my 70s… to keep doing this work.
I believe no one should have to pay to be autistic. If you've found value in what I share, please consider supporting this principle in action.
In gratitude,
Johnny Profane Âû
P.S. All content will remain free regardless of the outcome of this fundraiser. The principle stands, even when finances are tough.
We sure blew past that goal! On Day $4!
Do you have any idea what your support means to this old autist!

I hope you all can forgive me... I'm leaving the full 7-day fund raiser up.
Here's why:
I'm thinking of adding something. More sponstaneous. Letting me post more often. And I could use a few nickles in my pocket to help make it happen
A new podcast:
"Trigger Warnings: Fiercely 'Divergent News." A sort of "Gimme 10 minutes? I'll give you my neurodivergent world."
Cover one pressing story each episode in some depth... from a broader perspective, like politics or world geopolitics... with an autistic eye.
Plus quick headlines on neurodivergent research, institutional abuse, significant intiatives.
Maybe could do 2 or 3 a week. I think. Or rather if I DON'T overthink...
But what do YOU think?
Incredible!
You generously gave 2X yesterday! Now at 64% of our goal!
Thanks Bernard Grant, David Perlmutter, Tony V in LV, LivingWithHarmony, Sam Farmer, Ian Lawton, Eric!
